Utility Box Art
A juried art contest for local artists working with various mediums.
In an effort to beautify the city of Willoughby and foster a sense of community and place-making, the Willoughby Arts Collaborative, in partnership with the City of Willoughby, Avery, and the Cleveland Institute of Art, solicited local and regional artists to submit work. The chosen images adorn traffic boxes throughout the city. The resulting public art installations add interest to our city and offer a shared interpretation and experience for residents, visitors and businesses.
WAC has added to the utility box wraps in two subsequent years, and hopes to finish the project in 2026 or 2027!

Utility Boxes 2025
Congrats to the artists who created these winning designs that are now decorating a utility box in Willoughby!
Past winners will be added soon, please stay tuned.
Another call for art will be announced in 2026.
Thank you to the City of Willoughby for making this possible.
Special thanks to AVERY for donating the vinyl used to wrap the boxes.
And our eternal appreciation to Joshua Werling of the Cleveland Institute of Art (and WAC's founding President) for his work printing and installing the utility box wraps! This multi-year project is one we hope to complete soon but it would never have been possible without all of this support. Thanks to you all!
