The Willoughby Arts Collaborative is excited to announce our 3rd Call for Art for all artists to participate in beautifying the utility boxes in Willoughby. This is an excellent opportunity for local artists to showcase their creativity and help us make Willoughby an even more beautiful place to live and work!

We are seeking original designs submitted in 2D medium. Artwork submitted must be in a high-quality JPEG format with a minimum of 5000 pixels in the smallest dimension. Designs should be a horizontal/landscape format. This is a juried competition and a stipend of $100 will be awarded to the artist for each piece of artwork selected. The selected artwork will be printed on vinyl and installed on utility boxes in each Ward by a third party vendor.

​Number of Applications Allowed: Three (3)​

• Fee to enter:

  • $20 for one entry

  • $35 for two or three entries

 

Estimated Timeline:

• Application Submission begins: January 15, 2025

• Application Deadline: April 1, 2025

• Artists selected and notified by: May 1, 2025

• Projected installation: Starting May 1, 2025

Artist Guidelines:

• There is no particular theme for the artwork, but larger, bold and impactful images are preferred.

• Suggested Themes:

  • Nature - plants and animals native to our area​

  • Natural and artificial features in our community

  • Community - a sense of unity and connection​​

• Artwork must not contain:​

  • Political statements or persons​

  • Offensive or obscene references or imagery

  • Religious references

• Images that can be easily displayed on all four sides of the box are preferred.

• The boxes are 4-5 feet high and are usually a 2:1 ratio (side/side) and 4:1 ratio (front/back).

• Designs should be a horizontal/landscape format.

• All artwork must be original, submitted in 2D, and created by the artist applying.

• Artwork submitted must be in a high-quality JPEG format with a minimum of 5000 pixels in the smallest dimension.
